When are you guys going to realize this girl's entire career was astrotured as a means of offsetting any organized objections from artists towards music streaming services?
Think about it. She signed a deal with Platoon, an A&R agency which was closely affiliated with Apple at the time and is now owned by them, shortly after "Ocean Eyes" went viral.
Platoon/Apple are the ones who set up her team of 16 people. Apple also began promoting her even BEFORE her 2017 EP was released and then promoted her a ton all throughout 2018
while she was working on her album. 2017 was right around the time when artists started calling out streaming services for being unfair to artists and highly unsustainable in
terms of how well it can maintain an artist's career, because it was around that time when it became clear streaming was going to be the dominant music medium from now on.
So that's why she blew up the way she did. Everyone talks about her being an "industry plant" as if her parents' and brother's connections are what made her blow up, but no one
talks about relations of production and why corporate bosses in the music industry would be so keen on pushing an artist whose entire identity has been intertwined with streaming.
They want to use her success in order to shoot down other artists who could potentially do something like organize against the streaming sites and demand more money from streams
or some shit.
